GKS Sponsors Key Initiative

Excerpt from The Missourian:

The founder of a local company that offers computer software to help parents monitor their children's Internet activities wants Washington to be the next city to pass a law making online harassment a crime.

Mark A. Holguin, president/CEO of GetKidsSafe, addressed the city council Monday night and offered his help in drafting an ordinance that he said could be used as a model for other communities in Missouri. He handed out copies of a similar law approved by the city of Florissant recently.

Get Hooked on Health Expo at the America’s Center

On January 5th and 6th, 2007 GetKidsSafe was well represented at the Get Hooked on Heath convention at The America’s Center in St. Louis.  All six of the GKS staff members were present throughout the event to interact with the public, speaking with hundreds of people about the GetKidsSafe initiative and demonstrating the valuable tools available to parents for keeping their children safe on line.  The hands on demonstrations found eager observers impressed with the capabilities of the software, the comprehensive address of internet threats to the safety of their children, and the superiority of the software over anything else available on the market.

We passed out two thousand color flyers directing parents and educators to our web site.  These valuable interactions also provided opportunities to listen to their questions and gain more understanding of their concerns, further supporting our efforts to help parents protect their children online.  Several members of the GKS staff have been involved in many other conferences and trade shows and commented that they have never seen a more eager public response to the introduction of new products and services.  The need is obviously great and the provision of tools timely.

We also made several significant strides in our program to network with other organizations.  These include invitations for speaking to parent groups connected to several school systems, civic organizations and upcoming child safety fairs and seminars. GKS also teamed with Court TV to provide free digital finger printing of children for parents at the convention.  This service included an updateable print out of the child’s finger prints and photo and important information that would be useful to authorities in the event of the necessity for locating a missing child.
